Information we collect

NOUN Connect may collect information you provide when you create an account or use the app, including your name, email address, student ID, study centre, department, programme, profile details, posts, comments, uploaded images, reports, and support messages.

We may also receive limited technical information needed to operate and protect the service, such as device and app information, crash data, authentication records, and advertising consent choices.

How we use information

• Provide account access and connect students with relevant communities.
• Display profiles, posts, comments, images, and other user-submitted content.
• Moderate content, review reports, prevent abuse, and protect users.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the app.
• Show advertising when permitted and record consent choices.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our rules.

Services we use

We use service providers to operate NOUN Connect. These may include Google Firebase for authentication, databases, notifications, analytics, and crash reporting; Cloudinary for image hosting and delivery; and Google AdMob and the User Messaging Platform for advertising and consent management.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies and only for the services they provide. Advertising identifiers and consent information may be processed by Google when advertising features are active.

Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared with service providers, other users when you choose to post or make profile information visible, moderators who investigate reports, authorities when legally required, or a successor if the service is transferred.

Data retention and security

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the community. We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.

Your choices and rights

You may update certain profile information in the app, control relevant device permissions, withdraw advertising consent where available, and request access to or deletion of your account and associated personal information. Some records may be retained when required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or unresolved reports.

Account and data deletion

To request deletion of your account and associated data, follow the instructions on our account deletion page. We may ask you to verify account ownership before completing a request.

Children’s privacy

NOUN Connect is intended for higher-education students and is not directed to children under 13. If we learn that a child has provided personal information without appropriate authorisation, we will take steps to delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app or legal requirements change. The effective date above will be revised when material updates are made.
